Graham Adams left England at eighteen to live in France, gaining formative experiences that would later inform his writing. Returning to the United Kingdom, he became one of the earliest pirate radio DJs, broadcasting pop music from the Mounsel Forts in the Thames Estuary during a pivotal moment in cultural history.
He is an author of mystical fiction, metaphysical adventure, and supernatural literary novels whose work explores the unseen forces that shape human destiny, and has worked across Europe, including Lisbon, Barcelona, and Belfast during the Troubles.

From predicting the waves for WW2 amphibious landings to identifying the environmental impacts of next generation wind farms, oceanographers at Bangor University have made a huge contribution to advancing our understanding the way the ocean works. Here we will look at some examples of these advances.
Tom is Professor of Physical Oceanography (Established Chair) at Bangor University.

In 2014 Steph set off to ride around the world, solo, on her Honda CRF 250 motorbike with the aim of riding on all seven continents. She set off from the Ace Cafe in London, riding back there, having completed her goal in 2018, and becoming the first person to do so.
She has written a book (Home by Seven) about her adventures, and has now set up a motorbike riding business in Dolgellau.

This talk will provide an overview of the Amlwch food riot of 1817, exploring its origins and the impact on the local community, and how the authorities responded to this instance of protest and unrest.
Dr Lowri Ann Rees is Senior Lecturer in Modern History at Bangor University. A historian of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Wales, with a particular interest in landed estates and rural society, she has published on rural protest in Wales, in particular the Rebecca Riots, a series of protests which took place in south-west Wales in the late 1830s and early 1840s against tolls levied by the Turnpike Trusts.
